Captions
Lots of people scroll with the sound off, so on most shorts the captions carry the message. We burn them into the picture, large enough to read on a phone at arm's length, and keep them inside the safe area. The safe area is the part of the frame the apps leave alone: away from the username and description at the bottom and the like and share buttons down the right side.
| Style | Looks like | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Word by word | Two or three words at a time, the spoken word highlighted | Fast talkers, energetic clips |
| Line by line | One short line at a time, no highlight | Calm explainers, interviews |
| Subtitle bar | Small two-line subtitles on a band | Talks and panels where the picture matters |
| Your own | Your fonts, colors and placement | Accounts with an existing look |
Getting the words right
Auto captions get names, products and local words wrong. Every caption is checked by a person against the audio. Send a list of names and terms that must be spelled a certain way, and we add them to your style sheet so they come out the same in every batch. We trim filler words like "um" and false starts from the captions while keeping the speaker's meaning.
Hooks
A viewer decides in a second or two whether to keep watching. Most long recordings open a moment slowly: "So, yeah, I think the thing is..." The edit cuts straight to the line that matters, or moves the strongest sentence to the front and lets the clip explain itself after. Sometimes a short on-screen line sets up the question the clip answers.
For each clip we send a draft hook line with the pick list. You can approve it, rewrite it, or ask for two versions so you can see which one your audience stays for.
First frame and cover
Reels and Shorts show a cover image on your profile grid. We pick a frame where the speaker's face is clear and the eyes are open, and can add a short title in your style so the grid stays readable.
Questions
Can you caption clips I already edited?
Yes. Send the finished vertical files and we'll add captions in your chosen style without changing the cut.
Can you caption in Spanish or other languages?
We can caption what's spoken in the clip. For a translated caption track, say which language in your brief and we'll tell you what's possible before quoting.
Do you add emojis or sound effects?
Only if your style sheet asks for them. Plenty of accounts look better without.
